The medeval town of Castagneto Carducci, made famous by the poet Giosue Carducci is 10 Km. away and can be visited in an afternoon. Massa Marittima, San Gimignano and Volterra are also close enough for half day excursions.
The cantinas of the better known SuperTuscan wines
(Sassicaia, Antinori, Ornellaia, Gaia) are very close by and can be visited.

Elba, 45 km away is easily reached by car (ferry from Piombino).

Florence, Pisa and Siena are all less than 1 1/2 hours away by car.

The area offers superb beaches for sunbathing and clear, clean sea for swimming, sailing, wind surfing and scuba diving (awarded the "blue flag" for the fourth consecutive year). There are scuba diving schools at Baratti and San Vincenzo.

Thanks to a network of well maintained country roads there are many possibilities for cycling and mountain biking.

Try the l'Avio Club Enore Belcari for flying over the rolling Tuscan hills.
There are several stables in the area that offer guided excursions on horseback.
