The house, which is part of the former Castle of Borgiano, has stunning views across the hills to Trevi, Spello and Assisi. It has its own terraced garden with a panoramic swimming pool (4 x 8 m.) and a pretty vine-clad pergola. Return to Top     Only 15 minutes drive away is the Roman town of Spoleto, once the historical rival of Perugia as the provincial capital of Umbria. It boasts a Roman theater, several early Christian churches, a Cathedral with extraordinary frescoes by Fillipo Lippi, an imposing fortress of Cardinal Albornoz and a medieval aqueduct spanning the valley. It is also famed for its international Festival Dei Due Mondi, showcasing music, dance and theater in June and July. Borgiano is ideally situated for trips to Todi, Orvieto, Assisi and Perugia, and Rome can be reached in just over one hour. The hamlet lies on the edge of the vast, unspoiled area known as the Valnerina which has a natural park, hilltop villages, hidden Romanesque churches and towns of historical interest such as Norcia and Cascia. The area is particularly suited to cycling, being well served by cycle hire shops for spares and repairs and the plain around Trevi, Spoleto and Bevagna provides many roads and paths for the cyclists pleasure, in particular a pathway along 40 km. of riverbank from Spoleto to Bevagna.
